Important Tips

… or the Ten Commandments of smart tourists!

  1. Book your tour in advance, as availability can vary, especially during high season in Rome (range from mid-March to end of June and from September to mid November).
  2. To enjoy the best of the beauties in the city, choose the middle and low season, like the second half of November, early December, January and February (excluding bank holidays and festivities, of course!).You will also find the best hotel deals and avoid the chaos, queue, typical of overcrowding periods. Both the whether of the city is usually quite mild even in winter months.
  3. There are some sites that require reservations without which you cannot access, so it is important to move in time, especially if you have not flexible dates. In these cases it is necessary to arrive in time, as in case of delays is not always possible to regain the time elapsed.
  4. In places of worship you can only be access dressed appropriately (no uncovered legs or shoulders). It ‘also a required appropriate behavior and compliance with rules of the site.
  5. For a better enjoyment of the explanation the groups should not exceed 35/40 people in case of adults and of 40/45 people in case of children. Otherwise, the result of good reception and therefore success of the tour can not be guaranteed.
  6. In some sites (eg. Galleria Borghese, Palazzo Barberini) the maximum people number for each group is established by the museum itself. For larger groups they can require further guides ( I can provide also this) and / or a support radio-guides (cost around EUR 1.50 per person), mandatory in some churches (St. Peter, St. Paul). I will take care to reserve this and you will pay on spot.
  7. Some sites can be visited only on certain days of the week, so before you plan a trip you will have to check.
  8. In some cases the queue, and waiting times are not always expectable, even if you have a guide. I will do my best in order to reduce any inconvenience, but … not always it is possible to do miracles!
  9. In general trust my advice, especially about the meetingĀ  times and places! They are based on my experience and designed to give you the best possible service: As a customer myself, I am very respectful of those who spend time and money in certain activities. In your request specify the type of group and its needs, so I can better optimize the planning of the tour.
  10. If you plan to move with a private bus, remember that Rome needed permission to transit, especially in the old town. It is also not possible to load and unload people everywhere, but only in some places. For more information please visit www.atac.roma.it
