The fact that Pope Francis was different from the others has been proven more than once. From the moment he was elected, back in 2013, his success has been rampant, testified by the crowds in the Vatican Museums that my colleagues and I constantly cursed; incidentally now I wish I could have some of those tourists! But this latest news completely blew me away. Perhaps due to the lack of visitors, the Vatican has organized a real summer center for children from 5 years old to 12, guess where? In the marvelous Vatican Gardens.
Many activities, a swimming pool suitable for even the smallest, maximum sanitation, very “long” hours to meet every type of worker and a very low cost (60 € per child) are the perfect ingredients of this beautiful initiative. Once again Pope Francesco has shown his closeness to people and their practical needs, at a time when Italian institutions do not seem to have understood the real problems of parents and children during the pandemic.
